Description


Mortal Seeming: ~So approaches a young woman of poise and determination. There are many kinds of young women like this. For many, spoiling produces those qualities and only superficially. But Iris Ebner seems to radiate them as inherent birthrights, as if she descended from the lineage of kings. Her narrow face, delicate lips, and elevated cheekbones speak of aristocratic background. Yet, a light freckling of the skin levels her beauty to a whimsical and approachable degree. Iris runs long fingers through yellow hair, highlighting how the well-kept mane gleams of gold. Preppy clothes appropriate to a late teenage girl typically conforms to her slender figure: perhaps skinny jeans or flaring slacks, matched with a pleasant blouse of midriff-baring tee. Crystal-blue eyes penetrate her interlocutors. Yet, it proves whimsical. Iris's gaze soon drifts away, lost to inattention, daydreams, or perhaps even one too many barbiturates. The poise remains and it collides with a waif-like demeanor of reserved romanticism.~

Fae Mien: ~Delicateness poorly masks the inner strength and zeal this young Sidhe lady reveals. Lady Irissulrikr rarely wears armor or other elements of warfare. If she prepares for battle, light, finely-treated and sturdy leather encases her form, and her steady hand grasps a curved long bow. Normally, however, one encounters the demigoddess-like faerie in an ivory gown of soft lunar glow. It clings to her thin form yet does not accentuate curves. She simply appears to be an ambiguously effeminate avatar of the moon. Hair classically blonde in her mortal seeming now streams like liquid gold and shimmers like the strummed strings of a harp. In Irissulrikr's true fae mien, her eyes startle the most. Her gaze radiates like a clear, cold winter's dawn: bluer than air itself. And something elemental surrounds this Sidhe lady, a creature of the night and day alike, compelling both obeisance and joy. As a spirit of divine power and primordial caprice, dare you worship at the bare feet of Lady Irissulrikr of the Black Ebb?~

Chrysalis: Preordainment (Iris was born into a middle-class family, father a bureaucrat in the provincial capital; attending school, she proved charismatic, popular, and athletic, and looked likely to go to university prior her “accident”, in which she fell from a gorge into the Nkuti River and nearly died—her latecomer Sidhe soul taking Iris over at that point with a “miraculous” recovery), 2005
Mentor: Baron Johan Viljoen ap Aesin
The Test: Trial by Wit (confused and wounded, she was hurried to the main hospital in Durban, where the flare-up of wild Glamour attracted local fae and called attention to the Sidhe; recognizing her heritage as his own, Baron Johan took over from there, becoming her tutor in the Sidhe ways in the new post-Resurgence world, and soon recognizing her legacy with due respect once Iris regained her wits)

Transition: Shift in Purpose (with her basic wolf-pack trained and in service, she looked next to building up old alliances, and though she found obstacles, she also found potential ways through them; all the while, she stayed in the woods, away from mortals and indeed most fae, afraid she’d have her hand forced too soon with all the undead creepers about town!)


Remembrance


Iris grasps only a few memories of her ancient faerie past. But they include some important ones. Not the least of which delivers her memorial claim to fame: before the Sundering, she was widely renowned in the Kingdom of Dalarna as Irissulrikr of the Black Ebb. She earned this name by leading a contingent of Sidhe, their retainers, and her ferocious wolf pack, against a dire foe to rise from the dark stormy depths of the North Sea. That enemy was the Sea Witch Asanchua (a dark Murdhuacha sorceress) and her army of the Seadead. Under Irissulrikr's leadership, the legion of undead was vanquished and Asanchua driven into the depths whence she came. Though those days have long since past, Iris's memory often blurs the line between then and now, as often happens for the Shining Host.

Appearance: A suit of hardened black leather that protects her entire torso, fitted to her lean form, and engraved (but not embossed) with the blazon of House Aesin.

Appearance: A sturdy, Viking-era hatchet not particularly well-balanced for throwing, but rather meant as a one-handed battle-axe.

Appearance: A fine recurved bow of yew, carved with ancient Norse glyphs, replete with a quiver of 12 arrows feathered from a hawk; the quiver self-replenishes once per week.

Appearance: An ancient Viking horn carved from a great horn of a ram, polished ebony-black and inlaid with golden glyphs and imagery of lordship and hunting.

Effects: Summon her wolf pack (both the real and chimerical) to her side from wherever they may be; they will make all haste to arrive (she is rarely more than a few minutes away from them).
Activation: She must wind the horn loudly, three times. The horn is bound to her and works only for her.

She is pure Aesin cruelty, true, but it is a primordial power over fear. She's more likely to set her wolves upon demons than easy prey like regular innocent mortals. It's just that when there's nothing else around...
