The Test: Trial by Knowledge (Unseelie commoners in the rave saw her Chrysalis and took her straight to the baroness who took her in even though she identified Piper’s House affiliation; she had already finished high school so just disappeared from home and lived in Cassandra’s household, taking up the Naming when Piper proved she understood the Unseelie way of life and proved she was no Shadow Court pawn)

Key Event #1: Treachery (Balor lord crept into her life, masquerading as a harmless Ailil squire, attempting to seduce Piper and lure her into doing the dastardly deeds of the Shadow Court; she rebuffed and exposed him, earning the Shadow Court’s enmity, and yet nothing happened to her)

Transition: Loss of Friends (other Unseelie, who may or may not have been Shadow Court, began to reject and harass her, so she sought refuge among the Seelie, who uniformly rejected her—all but Queen Serena, who visited her, somehow knew about her goal of helping her House acquire magical power, and invited Piper to bind herself to the Ensemble to harvest as much as she could)

Piper was born into House Balor but she believes the House is, or at least could be, redeemed as noble as any Unseelie House--that slavery to some greater, darker, evil forces is not their doom. They are not mere Thallain! At least, she hopes not. But she has no proof, and the whispers in her dreams could be...and probably are...lies.
