Dona Sabia Suerte ni Ailil
Mara Suerte of the Ebon Cyclone

Sidhe Wilder
Captain of the Cyclone
Description
(Mortal Seeming) ~Rakish and proud, young Sabia is dark-haired and dark-skinned exotica urbanized. Her 15"-long, flowing black hair is tied back into a convenient ponytail that springs from her black bandanna-covered head. The 5'7" woman appears to be in her late teens but her brown and gently-slanted eyes glimmer with ageless sagacity and cunning, while hinting at her Filipino heritage. Her oval face is warm but her lips are curved into an almost perpetual smirk. Sabia wears a pair of polished, calf-high black boots, though a pair of black Guess jeans drops down to the heel. Her firm upper body is clad in a black athletic tank top and a weathered, leather, and brown bomber jacket. The tank top falls just short of her navel, revealing a silver hoop piercing. The same style of hoops pierce both ears and the left eyebrow. Her fingers bear silver rings, more than one set with intricate lapis lazuli and gold designs. A silver crucifix hangs about her neck and rests in the swell of her breasts. The bandanna that covers as low as the top of her ears bears the traditional pirate's logo on the top: skull & crossbones. Sabia strolls the scene with confident and almost lackadaisical poise, almost mathematically deducing all she sees.~
OOC: Appearance 3
(Fae Mien) ~Sabia's true nature becomes apparent to the gifted or enchanted. Her hair flows freely as if caught in a sea-breeze. Her face takes on such a superior, defiant, rakish, cunning, and in general intimidating expression that few can argue with this noble scoundrel. Her beauty does not become more delicate and ethereal as some Sidhe ladies; instead, it becomes more vibrant and keen to the eyes. Every piece of silver jewelry seems to sparkle in the slightest light, her eyes seem to glow with the insatiable hunger and dreams of youth, and even her attire fades. The jeans become old-fashioned pantaloons tucked into those boots, the tank top becomes white silk with fluffy sleeves, and the jacket a black vest with thin mink trim. Only the bandanna remains the same. Sabia seems taller and larger-than-life, and seems easily able to assume command of any situation. This buccaneer throwback is definitely a worldly noble not to be underestimated!~
OOC: Appearance 5

"Let's play truth or dare...at sword point.”
History
Youth
Sabia descended from infamy long ago. At the height of the Golden Age of piracy, she was incarnated as the notorious Catarina Suerte, better known as the Black Cat. This pirate captain pillaged many a Spanish, Portuguese Dutch, and British merchant vessel alike in the Atlantic and Pacific seas. And as she got rich, she earned enemies - many of them supernatural. And being of House Ailil even then - one of the few Sidhe who didn’t run crying to their mommies in Arcadia at the Shattering - she was capable of defying and defeating those monstrous foes. Eventually, however, locked up in her freehold vessel, Bedlam overtook the proud pirate. She and her crew became akin to one of the pirate ghost ships of nautical legend. Captured ships were robbed for all they were worth and the crew tormented by the mad and sadistic fey buccaneers. It was not til several hundred years later that her soul was finally freed with the Resurgence. In 1969, Catarina, mindless, finally perished, and her soul fled into the Dreaming to seek a new life. A decade later, it finally found a worthy descendant. Proud and defiant, Sabia was a spitting image of her ancestor. Of course, like all fae, she didn’t start that way.
Sabia was born in the Philippines. Her father, who carried the legacy of the Black Cat in his veins, was a pure Spaniard who remained in Manila long after most of his family returned to Europe. Her mother was a Filipino daughter, descended from the surviving nobility of that island country. She spent five years in her homeland and doesn’t remember much of it, except how much she loved the beaches. Tragedy struck when her mother was raped and murdered during a riot. Her father didn’t stay in the country long after that, and moved to the United States in the hopes that the “great melting pot” would treat a half-Asian, half-Spaniard with more dignity than the often racist natives of the Philippines. Heh, poor naïve foreigners…
They moved to Galveston, Texas. While there was a large Hispanic population there, most of the Caucasians treated her like any other “darkie”. Sabia lived there until she was twelve, a lock-key kid who’d come home from school to a lonely house while her father worked in the city. She ended up, of course, back on the streets and the docks, learning how to be a “tough kid”. It wasn’t until her father moved again to stay with his job in Tongo Imports up to Kansas City, Missouri. The corporation was expanding along the Mississippi River and management was desperately needed.
As Sabia grew older, she began to spend more time apart from her friends. It was not because she felt the need to be “lonely” or some other mopey crap. She simply found them shallow and boring. She spent more time alone, near the river docks. The Blue River was dirty and no comparison to the lapping tides of the Pacific Ocean, but it was water, and it held a deep intrigue for the preteen. She didn’t quite understand why, she just knew her future lay out there on the waves.
Chrysalis & Tutelage
One hot summer afternoon, as she sat on the dock with her feet in the water, dizziness overtook Sabia. She blacked out and relived her past life as Catarina. Sabia remembers the feelings of the Chrysalis quite clearly, though others seem to often forget the details. She remembers a crisp sensation of epiphany, as if her path were laid right out before her in shining gold and silver. She recalls the feelings of elation and pride. And most importantly, Sabia remembered exactly who she was and who she must become again. But when the first moments of the Chrysalis ended and she awakened to the real world, she found herself in such a shocking situation her young and fragile mind lost grip of much of the first vision. She found herself tied down to a table in what she assumed to be a boat cabin, since the world was rocking like one.
That’s when Sabia first met Lady Morganna ni Ailil and her crew of the Dame Fortune. And her education as both Sidhe and Ailil - once again - began. It was arduous work, and all but replaced her human education. She spent most of her time learning the proper ways of court behavior and a few of the Dreaming’s many magical tricks. She learned all about the “real world” - that is, she was transformed into a tough-as-nails realist without losing her grip on the truth of the Dreaming in a matter of a year. Consequently, she passed the on-board quest of her Saining with flying colors. She had to persuade beyond a shadow of the doubt to several testing chimerae and fellow fae that she was their natural superior. With cunning and perseverance, she did just that, even at the lowly age of thirteen.
Early Years
Sabia further impressed Morganna with her natural aptitudes at fencing and helmsman. The half-Filipino went on land to a local Modern Arnis school, learning all she could of her homeland's martial arts style. She became especially skilled at the espada y daga method, and lusted after a new sword every day. And Sabia often steered the infamous gambling vessel down the waterways of the Blue and Missouri Rivers. Sabia was always a useful asset in maritime endeavors. She led several piracy attacks over the years, storming the occasional yacht and robbing them for all they were worth. No one on board was harmed, of course, provided they did not resist. And faced with weapons, few ever did. Those who did...well, Sabia herself enjoyed tormenting the defeated, verbally and physically abusing would-be protectors of their precious excess. And because Sabia limited her expeditions to once or twice a year (and without pattern), the police never did catch up.
Meanwhile, her father assumed his precious daughter had turned to the worst elements. He was right, too, and he all but gave up on her. He dedicated himself to work, pretending to be oblivious to her life-style. So oblivious was he that he didn’t even know she was gone forever from their home til a month later. And yet Sabia has not forgotten him, and all that he taught her about the past: the old pirate bedtime stories and the proper upbringing that made her the strong and proud young woman she became. She still even pretenses at Catholicism since her father was such a devout follower of the faith, but in truth she acts pious in respect of her father, not the Father. He was only partly mollified by her disappearance with the occasional letters she would send, a large sum of money sometimes enclosed.
But Sabia’s new life continued unhinged by her past human connections. And while she managed to dance around mortal authorities and even the occasional supernatural enemy, her greatest mistake so far was on board the Dame Fortune itself. As Sabia grew older, so did her ambition. She decided that Morganna wasn’t ambitious enough, surely not for an Ailil, and decided it was time for a new captain. She approached a few crewmates she suspected would join her mutiny. But she misjudged their careless attitudes. And although those fellow crewmates might not be sincerely loyal to Morganna, they weren’t about to rebel with a “brat” like Sabia. Even Morganna herself, after hearing about Sabia’s planned mutiny, demonstrated little respect for the young Wilder. Instead of punishing her severely as one does a dangerous enemy, she was simply kicked off the boat - banished from the Dame Fortune and that easy source of Glamour. Morganna made a simple statement - don’t even think about coming back until she is ready to “pay her dues”, which meant that Sabia still owed Morganna for the years of employment and education.
Recent Years
Sabia was dumped in Little Asia, where Morganna knew the girl would attach herself to the small gathering of noble outcasts there. Morganna no doubt hoped that Sabia would prove to be a useful asset in manipulating that Oathcircle. But Sabia has her own plans, already forming as she rediscovered her ancestry when she visited her father’s home for the first time in years. The dweomer of magical power drew her to a hidden chest under her father’s bed, and when she opened it, light was shed on her ancient past once again. Sabia discovered her Cat’s Claw, and with it, her dignity, pride, and ambition. Sabia Suerte would rise to the peak of infamy and heroism in the dank shadows of the modern world, just as Catarina did centuries past. Whoever dared oppose her would surely meet in person Mr. Davey Jones!
Over the next year or so, Sabia explored Little Asia’s alleyways and underbelly inhabitants. During this time, she honed her fencing and magic alike. She encountered few other Kithain, but some of those whom she met were interested in roguish adventure and glory. And that, Sabia promised, is what would be delivered if she ever found a ship and a way to conquer the waterways of the Midwest…just for starters.

Remembrance
Sabia’s memory of her last life as Catarina is still extremely foggy. A semi-conscious urge led her to discovering the Cat’s Claw, but she has not yet found any other relics of her past. Nor does the saber function as a trigger for more memories, much to her chagrin. Only very keen and unexpected reminders have helped at all, bringing her so far only memories of who she was and who she should be again. Sabia is on the hunt for her ancient craft, the Cyclone, that she recalls has the ability to masquerade as a modern craft (whatever modern may be) even if the ship itself is millennia old. It could be at the bottom of the sea for all she knows, or simply stashed in some secret cave a la Goonies…

Treasures
Cat's Claw
Level: 2
Origin: This was Sabia's sword in her past life as Catarina. It was probably a gift from a Prodigal sorcerer or masterful Nocker swordsmith; its precise origin has been lost to time...for now.
Description: This antique cutlass couldn't be in better shape considering its age. It does not seem to radiate any mystical power save to those who know what they're looking for. Its ornate guard depicts a sea serpent curling up from the pommel -- indeed, the handle is the serpent's body. The razor-keen blade is as deadly as it was back in the golden years of piracy. To faerie eyes, the sword appears just like this, but the drawing of the blade from the sheath rings metal on metal with striking clarity and volume.
Effects: 1) inflict aggravated damage
Glamour Costs: Treasure: 0; Effect #1: 0
Activation: Unsheathe it and swing away.
Chimerae
Leather Cuirass
Level: 2
Origin: Sabia Chrysalized with this piece of lightweight rogue's armor.
Description: This cuirass of fine and treated leather armor studs protects her upper body from the chest (to the base of the neck) to her waist line, front and back, with slits along the sides for greater ease of motion. The blazon of House Ailil is burned into the chest piece.
Effects: 1) light armor
Glamour Costs: Chimera: 0; Effect #1: 0
Activation: Just put it on.

Bunk Styles
Style: Magic Realism
Examples: Pyromancy, whispering to the spirit world, walk widdershins 3 times, listen to a seashell, rakish laugh, laugh in enemy’s face
Significant Other
While hanging around town, Sabia encountered this con artist and thief of a Piskie, Wanda Absalon, in late 2004. The two went out for fun, and their fun became hearty passion. Sabia finds a kindred soul in this Mexi-Cali Piskey babe. They will likely stay "partners-in-crime" for awhile to come. Sabia already invited Wanda to join the crew. The Piskey knows little of sailing, but would be an excellent guide to criminal activities when the gang is at port!

Wanda
Weakness
Ye Scurvy Dogs!
Aye, it's a pirate's life. An Ailil pirate, no less. Sabia has little tolerance for those she deems "inferior" -- which includes most people. Besting her in a "sharps" fencing match would earn her respect (and enmity), but that's about it. Regardless of her true feelings for a person, however, she also treats the individual with dignity and politeness -- behavior only befitting a true noble, even a scoundrel like she.
Likelihood of Corruption
High.
Sabia has her eyes on the gold, and her hunger for wealth and power could be an easy button for tempters to push. But devils beware, she is indeed the descendant of the Black Cat, and many monsters fell before her blades and cannons.
